Social Worker
Location: East Cornwall (covering Liskeard, Launceston, Callington & Gunnislake)
Pay Rate: £25.38 per hour (paid weekly every Friday)
Contract Length: 6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 5:15pm
Positions Available: 2
About the Role
We are looking for experienced and motivated Social Workers to join a dynamic team covering East Cornwall. This is a full-time role with a hybrid working model, including community visits, office-based work, and remote write-ups.
You will be required to carry out at least 2 days per week of face-to-face visits, with flexibility to complete administrative work remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Completing Mental Capacity Assessments
- Undertaking Section 42 safeguarding enquiries
- Carrying out strengths-based and needs assessments
- Developing and reviewing care and support plans
- Managing court work and presenting in formal settings where required
- Effectively prioritising workload and meeting deadlines
Requirements & Experience
- Recognised Social Work qualification with current HCPC registration
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Social Care, Human Rights, and Person-Centred Practice
- Experience working with adults in need of support and their families
- Ability to complete complex assessments, analyse information, and produce clear, outcome-focused plans
- Confident in report writing, record keeping, and presenting information in meetings or court
- Strong communication skills, including handling sensitive situations, conflict, and challenging behaviours
- Effective negotiation skills to secure appropriate care and support packages
- Good IT skills and experience using case management systems
- Understanding of statutory social care structures and accountability
Additional Requirements
- Access to a vehicle and ability to travel across East Cornwall
- Willingness to undertake face-to-face visits
- Subject to an enhanced DBS (criminal records) check
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
