Social Work Team Manager (Youth Justice / Adolescent Services)
Pay Rate:
£34.13 per hour (paid weekly every Friday via PAYE)
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:45 – 17:15
Contract Length:
Initial 12-week assignment with potential for extension
Location:
Mid Cornwall (office-based working required on a regular basis, with hybrid flexibility where appropriate)
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Social Work Team Manager to lead a busy, multi-disciplinary service working with adolescents and young people with complex needs. This is a key leadership role overseeing a range of practitioners delivering statutory social work and Youth Justice interventions.
The team includes Social Workers, Youth Justice practitioners, targeted youth workers, and specialists supporting harmful sexual behaviour cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide line management, supervision, and practice development for a diverse team of practitioners
- Oversee statutory social work and Youth Justice assessments
- Coordinate complex, multi-agency plans for young people
- Ensure high-quality, timely interventions for children, young people, and families
- Support and develop trauma-informed, strengths-based practice
- Maintain strong operational oversight and service delivery performance
- Build and maintain effective partnership working across agencies
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with significant post-qualifying experience
- Proven experience managing frontline children’s services teams
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and complex adolescent needs
- Experience of working within Youth Justice or similar services (desirable)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice approaches
- Ability to work at pace and prioritise effectively in a demanding environment
- Strong leadership, supervision, and decision-making skills
Additional Requirements
- Commitment to regular office-based working
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships across agencies
- Understanding of the importance of partnership working in safeguarding children and young people
