Job Description:
Our client, one of the leading internet providers in the south-west region are seeking an enthusiastic & experienced Field Service Engineer to join the team.
You will be based in the Reduth office. Travel across the west of Cornwall will be expected, with some travel further afield when required.
You must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
You must have the following qualifications or your application will be rejected.
Qualifications:
- SAOO1, SAOO2, S7, S8, NRSWA
- Must have a valid driver’s licence.
- Qualified operator mobile elevating platform license (Desirable)
- S5 qualification (Desirable)
- Working in confined spaces certification (Desirable)

Salary: £23,000 - £27,000 (depending on experience), plus company van and tools. On call allowance also applies.
Your day-to-day role will consist of installing and maintaining the company’s products and services, in support of the company’s roll out strategy. Single Engineer and Dual Engineer customer installations included.
Main Responsibilities:
- To install broadband services using, Fibre technologies and any other last mile delivery technologies.
- To assist with service faults and network faults.
We are looking for someone who has hands on experience with broadband installations, with experience with working from heights.
Proven ability to install FTTP services and/or Telecommunication services.
Circumstances:
- Overtime (supplemented by TOIL)
- On – Call allowance (as required)
- Must be prepared to travel throughout the southwest.
- This role involves some working out of hours, with some early starts and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
- The company operates between the hours of 8am – 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
Key Activities:
- Installation and maintenance of Broadband services to end users using a variety of access technologies.
- Participates in on-call rotation as required.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Mentors Junior Field Engineers/ Apprentices when required.
- Actively participates in meetings and line management reviews.
- Demonstrates and is role model for a customer-first attitude. Seeks to quickly resolve customer issues by collaborating with colleagues and other departments.
- Manages and maintains own personal development, mandatory training and essential certifications.
- Assist with providing engineering support within the network infrastructure.
- Updating of relevant systems on job completion, with emphasis on quality and observation of process.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Work with the Service Delivery Supervisor to ensure optimal use of resource and logistics.
- Report as required to Senior Field Engineer.
- Working at height.
All duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the day and what is required.
Knowledge:
- Ability to demonstrate deep understanding of internet service provision install procedures and protocols.
- In depth knowledge of fibre and/or fixed wireless technology and problem-solving protocols.
- Excellent demonstratable knowledge of health and safety requirements including risk assessments.
- Up to date knowledge and understanding of business, industry and customer needs, including technical demands and requirements of products / services to be installed.
- Understand the importance of delivering exceptional customer service experience.
Skills/Attributes:
- Confident communicator with excellent communication skills, especially the ability to communicate with less technically aware colleagues and customers.
- The ability to focus on a variety of tasks.
- Attention to detail to be able to analyse and solve problems.
- Ability to organise and plan requirements for a busy work schedule.
- Able to work as part of a team and to mentor Junior Engineers
- Time keeping and able to meet deadlines.
- Must enjoy working outdoors & able to work at height.
